Introduction
SCERT Haryana Gurugram was established in April 1979. It was the conglomeration of State Institute of Education and State Institute of Science, to provide new dimensions to school education. It’s been a firm view of Haryana Education Department to enhance educational standards of teachers, so as to bring about overall qualitative improvement in different echelons of school education. It is in recognition of this endeavor that SCERT through its eleven different departments fulfills all the needs and requirements in the field of education. The council lays highest importance on maintaining excellence in teaching both as an end in itself and as a basis for creativity for sustaining excellence in research. The institution aims to acquaint teachers with innovations brought out in the sphere of school education through continuous training sessions, workshops and other measures.
Infrastructure
Nested in the hustle and bustle of city’s traffic is a quaint little niche that we know as SCERT Haryana Gurugram. This easily approachable peaceful heaven resides on the main Sohna- Gurugram road right opposite Panchayat Bhawan near Rajiv chowk .As you enter the gates you will be greeted by the pleasant calls of a small group of peacocks hidden amongst the lush green trees livening up the SCERT campus. Two blocks separated by beautiful green lawns house twelve different departments of SCERT where the genius minds work continuously to bring about quality improvement in education.
Conference Halls/Seminar Halls:
The buildings consist of five state of the art conference halls namely Manthan , Sangam , Nirnay, Anveshan and Samiksha which can accommodate around 400 participats at any given time. The educationists from all over the state gather here to work together to enhance quality of education. The subject specialists of SCERT find some innovative ideas when they meet in Chintan and Manan, the two meeting halls in the campus.
Computer Labs:
Two fully resourced computer labs having 50 latest computers are utilized for training programs on computer education.
Library:
A well-stocked library in the campus has around 24 thousand books on various subjects and genre to help the brilliant minds working over here. Eight daily Newspapers and eight different magazines keep the scholars abreast with all that is happening around the world.
Teachers’ Home
Teachers Hostel :
The council provide excellent residential facility to the trainee teachers gathering here for various workshops and seminars. Teachers’ hostel has 80 well ventilated rooms equipped with all modern facilities has been catering to the needs of visiting faculty since October 1988. It is right adjacent the canteen providing healthy and fresh meals.
